Theo Schalesky-Hettinger

Brandon Lemer-Harvey
From 1983 to 1985 Theo wrestled at Hettinger High School.  He was a Badlands Conference Champion three times, a region runner-up twice, a region champion once, a state qualifier three times with a third-place finish and a state championship.  During his high school career he amassed 83 wins with his senior season being 32 and 2. Following high school Theo wrestled for the Dickinson State Blue Hawks and in 1999 was the AAU National Folkstyle Champion. Since 1988 Theo has been a staple in the very successful Hettinger wrestling program serving as an assistant since 1988, was head coach for the Hettinger Kids Wrestling Club, was involved with four National middle school teams and, in 2005, was named the National Wrestling Coaches’ Association Region 5 Assistant Coach of the Year. Theo and his wife, Trisha, live in Hettinger with their two children, Cale and Eli.

Brandon was the North Dakota High School state champion at 215 lbs. in 1999 and 2000 and received Honorable Mention as an Inter-Mat’s High School All-American. While wrestling for Jamestown College from 2003–2005 he was a 3-time NAIA All-American, won the National Tournament Pin Award, and finished third in 2005. Brandon was a three-time Most Valuable Wrestler at Jamestown College, Dakota Athletic Conference Most Valuable Senior, and Dakota Athletic Conference Winter Sports Athlete of the Year. He is also a two-time state Greco champ, a six-time state Freestyle champ, and a two-time Triple Crown winner. He coached wrestling at Grand Forks Red River during the 2001-2002 season and is presently defensive coordinator and linebacker coach at Minnesota State University-Moorhead. Brandon and his wife Jenny along with their two-year old daughter Jillian, reside in Moorhead.

Lee attended New Salem High School where began wrestling his freshman year under the guidance of coaches Grover Harlow and Dale Hedlund. He attended Dickinson State College and competed in wrestling where his coaches were Morris Martin and LeRoy Boespflug.  In 1972-73 Lee was an assistant coach in Langdon to the late Roger Snortlund and as head coach there, he coached four wrestlers who placed in the state "A” tournament. Lee moved to Wahpeton in 1976 and was an assistant to Bud Schmitz. From 1980 to 1994 he was head coach at Wahpeton High School. During that time, thirty-eight wrestlers placed in state tournaments of whom three were state champions and the program enjoyed a 101-85 dual meet record. Lee was a two-time East Region Coach of the Year, served as president of the North Dakota Class A Wrestling Coaches Association, and began the Wahpeton High School Hall of Fame. He is proud of all the students who wrestled for him and is grateful some have pursued coaching; two of  them being Paul Schmitz of Kindred High School and Jim Makovsky, of Minnesota State University Mankato. Lee and his wife Barb live in Wahpeton and have three children; Wade (wife Lisa), Amy (husband Jason Ness), Will (wife Laura), and three grandchildren, Ryen, Tori, and Watson.

Dennis Friestad

Class A Wrestling Coach of the Year in 1987. 2 time state wrestling champion for Napoleon High School. 4 year letter winner and 2 time MVP in wrestling at Valley City State University. 4 time NDCAC wrestling champion for Valley City State University. NAIA All-American placing third at 157 lbs in 1965. NDCAC Outstanding Wrestler Award in 1965. Valley State University Athletic Hall of Fame member .
